Cynical, critical and a huge JoJo fanboy. Truthfully I don't really see myself as an "Otaku", though at this point I'm not entirely sure what qualifies as one anymore. Animation is most definitely my favorite storytelling medium though.
In terms of anime, I enjoy ones with unconventional presentation or storytelling. I love when a show is made with passion and ones that go into themes of anti-escapism, existentialism and social commentary. My favorites of these include Tatami Galaxy, Kaiba, Serial Experiments Lain, Texhnolyze, Millennium Actress and Paranoia Agent.
I also have a real soft spot for smart kids shows, my favorite being Digimon Tamers.
My favorite anime directors are Masaaki Yuasa and Satoshi Kon.
