I haven't watched a lot of horror or dark animes i mostly watch action and comedy but sometimes i will watch romance but from the ones ive seen Another, Dusk Maiden Of Amnesia, Future Diary, Elfen Lied,and Death Note are pretty good if you haven't seen them already you can check those out

I think you can find somebody despite the shyness, you just gotta find someone that saw the same anime as you or read the manga you liked which is pretty easy since you can see anybody's that you click on and start a conversation about it then the rest will flow
