Have you learned all the Japanese you know from watching anime? or in just reading manga?

I know certain words and phrases from anime but only a handful of things. I'm horrible when it comes to learning languages so there's no way I can learn anything all that significant from anime alone :/

They way I learned is pretty interesting. My little sister had this Sailor Moon CD. She would listen to it and look at the booklet with the lyrics. She noticed the same sounds with the same kana and she made a phonetic chart outlining what kana/character made what sound. I joined her in her endeavor and that's how I learned Hirigana, Katakana, and some Kanji. I later took Japanese formally in high school and college however not a lot of native speakers in my area so I don't get the chance but I do when I can. I translate manga on my own and that's helped tremendously with reading more Kanji and colloquialisms. When I watch anime, I look out for new idioms and expressions I'm not familiar with. Also I'm going over Tae Kim's Japanese grammar guide which is a big help and valuable resource; I highly recommend it. Very soon I'll be in Japan for a minimum of 3 months. I'm gonna see how I can get by with my limited Japanese. I'm okay with simple stuff but I don't consider myself fluent at all. I think being able to be with a native speaker would really help; especially if both are looking for a language and cultural exchange.
