My dad: He better not think of me as a kid. He needs me as a roommate to help pay rent, not as a son. We're both on the same intellectual level as well, and I remain otherwise self sufficient, so I highly doubt he does. My mom: My mom's a different story. My twin brother and I are quite literally bastard children, so she never really got the chance to watch us grow up. Add to that, I don't drink or smoke, I'm asexual, and I look younger than I actually am, so she has trouble recognizing that I'm a 29 year old adult with political opinions that are in every way her opposite.

I have a pretty decent relationship with my mom, she doesn't really treat me like a kid, I have three younger brothers, so I'm usually helping her out with them. She still tells me to clean my room though lol

omfg, this drives me crazy! I live about 4 hours away from my parents, and they expect me to come visit every time I get a holiday weekend or take a little time off. It's like, I'm not a college student anymore; I'm an adult with a job. I have friends and one day I'll have a girlfriend (I hope). I have my own life. I should not have to keep it a secret anytime I take time off so my parents don't try to guilt trip me into using it for them >.<

Worse, I don't feel human because of their constant mistreatment of me.
