A trap is somone who dresses up as the opposite gender, and does not make it known. The goal is to trick someone of the same gender into hooking up with them, hence a trap.

Yes because everyone who is in a bad situation, wrong body, or enjoys a hobby (sexual for a few) wants to trick people into having sex with them.

People or Characters who can look like a member of the opposite sex convincingly whether on purpose or by accident. No, most traps in anime are not motivated by sex, as for real life traps I think that's is just for gratification of feeling feminine/masculine, whether or not sex is involved. https://i.yuki.la/a/1465824093445.gif
