Thoughts on premium membership

animekid
First off I'm aware this topic has already been done but I figure if it's recreated then it might get more attention rather and then I don't have to go sifting through the forums for the older one. Anyway what are everyone's thoughts on premium membership here? I know that there aren't too many people here in the forums with the premium membership. Has anybody thought about getting it and to anybody who has it what are your thoughts on it? I thought about getting it but I never did because it was so rare that someone within my state would join and so even with the extra things I could get with membership I never saw much point to it. Now I have actually found somebody though and I am contemplating once again actually becoming a premium member. It doesn't cost much at all and even though I'm actually on here a little bit less now I kind of feel like giving back to the site that helped me find my special someone.

It's good to give back to the site if you want since it did help you out. As for myself I don't really have use for it currently. I think it's a good feature for those who have a lot of people in their area. Along with some of the other benefits.

If I weren't focused on spending less and saving for complexities that are going to happen soon, I would sign up for it. I wouldn't really have a use for premium, so maybe a donate button would be easier for when I can give back.

I became a premium member when I first joined actually, and that was more for the reason of wanting to expand the site so we could bring in more people in who may be from my area that I haven't met yet. I know for fact there's a lot of Otaku in Ohio. But its hard to meet them when most of them never leave their houses, or know this site exists. A lot of the ones who did come here tended to disappear rather quickly though. I'd do it again, but after recent expenses, I'd rather save my money for my own projects at the moment. It certainly did end up pretty handy for making a lot of friends early on. As in I noticed a lot more people were coming to me than vice versa. So I personally would recommend sparing some doe for month or two just to try it.

I was going to get premium when I first got here but that required me to make a pay pal. I'm too lazy to create a pay pal. I don't know if it does much tbh but it looks like it somewhat helps.

From my experience, unless you're looking to support the site, it's not really worth it imo. The only real benefits are the slightly expanded search options which were never very good to begin with, and the ability to have a cover photo on your profile.
