Well, being an American I don't have much weight on the issue. But my personal thoughts on it are this... The European Union needs the UK. The UK doesn't need the EU. Britain will ALWAYS have enough pull to return to the EU, but this may have been their only opportunity to leave. Especially with all the population anger towards government officials. I think leaving will be for the best, but we can only see what the future holds. Britain may have just taken a big step towards real freedom.

I agree with what you are saying Neko but unfortunately along side that opinion I heard some using it as a means to be racist and derogatory to others. So instead of your view which is perfectly reasonable other would say all foreigners are scum and can fuck off back off to their country. What made me laugh also was people saying they take all our jobs and these are people who have never worked a say in their life, churn out babies just for money and scrounge of the government.

@The Neko King It could very well be if the citizens of Britain hold on to this newfound freedom. I wish the best for you all, may the future be bright. @lenny82: You do know there is a difference between being a Nationalist and a racist, right?

I'm sorry if this offends any of you, but the UK and especially BBC is being rather ingnorant about the consequences of all of this. Yeah, sure, you'll be able to decide who enters and who doesn't, but do you really think that the EU will make it easy on you. What BBC isn't reporting, which quite shocked me, is how all countries react. The entire EU feels betrayed by the fact that one of the founders is about to leave. They will not go easy on the UK and will make an example out of you. Trade with the EU will be extremely difficult for you. I'm not trying to threaten you or something. I'm just telling you what to expect. Many people in the EU will want the UK to get their ass handed to them. Apart from that all your foreign laws will have to be reevaluted with all countries that aren't part of the EU too. Chances are that this all will actually be a huge setback for you, because in a few weeks the UK will be like sitting ducks when it comes to those kind of things. And last, but very much not least, the filming of Game of Thrones will probably stop in Ireland, because the EU used to finance that. Not anymore, I bet. This doesn't seem like a big deal and you may laugh, but it is a sign of something much greater: tourism might just plummet big time in the UK, which will mean another great loss of income. But yeah... you guys got your freedom alright.

Yes I do Gudmoore. I didn't say that everyone was racist for not wanting immigrants in the country. I infact agreed with Neko on his point. I was stating that I experienced a few racist views.

@Sanfi: If I was giving off the impression that life would be EASY for Britain from this point forward, I wasn't trying to. They're going to have to FIGHT to keep this independence. And as you say, the EU will start trying to pull every dirty trick in the book. This is why the citizens of Britain have to be more vigilant than ever. If the UN was telling the United States we HAVE to listen to political agendas or be punished, I and countless other Americans would be hardily against it. Even likely pushing a vote to leave the UN. So I'm in FULL support of Britain's decision. They've earned the right to try. @lenny82: Alrighty, just checking. A lot of people tend to confuse the two. But yeah there are definitely also real racists who use nationalism as an excuse to be racist.

@King I spotted something interesting in one of your comments: " It means the economy can grow without a sudden influx of poorly educated people stealing jobs from locals" Isn't it strange that it is so easy for them to do so? Also, think of where some of them are comming from. Imagine one of your neighbour contries invading the UK and you having to flee somewhere and they just say "No, they gonna take our jobs and wellfare!" while your family died trying to get there. How'd you feel? That's why the immigration is forced. The EU didn't do that without a reason and the UK is not the only one being burdend by the bad situations right now. All the countries are pulling their weight and the UK just decided not to do that anymore. That's their good right, but don't expect the other countries to just be fine with that.
