Group Trip to Japan 2017

ldrewguy
So this is yet another outrageous out of the blue question that will probably either get ignored or not taken seriously lol. It's all good, Ima ask it anyway. So I went to Japan this year in October for about two weeks and loved it. I didn't go because of anime, women or stuff like that. I went because I was curious about the people in their modern society. In any case, I did all the simple stuff like walking around, going to a few temples and what not and I went alone. I didn't want to go as a tourist but rather someone gaining a new experience seeing as I had never traveled. Doing it as a group is usually not possible due to us having different obligations in our lives such as kids, school, work, etc. However, to anyone that hasn't gone, it's truly something that you should try at least once if you've ever been interested in Japan. Whether people go with me or not, I'm still going. I just figured I'd put this here in case anyone ever thought of the same thing. Since this site isn't used much, I can't imagine the same people that are here now, sticking with this site two years from now. I'm still posting this. :D So we can still talk about this hypothetically and in actuality. Ask as many questions as you want such as "When" "where" "how much" say your interests and things like that. This can be a kind of "Planning" thread. Even if you don't plan on going with this trip, you can use the information that people put here towards a trip of your own if you ever want to go seperately. So let the questions and comments fly and lemme know what you guys think or if you have anything to say at all. Thanks!

Sounds fun, but seeing as some people here don't even leave the house, much less socialize in their own neighborhood, it seems unlikely that people would be willing to travel together. That being said if this actually happened it'd be hella cool.

@Idrewguy how much was your trip overall? how did you get around and where did you stay at? I maybe intrested in going. I dont know what my situation is gonna be but it sounds pretty fun to go with someone who know at least the gist of things.

@Ginseng - True but if it's a trip with similar people, then they may be more willing since going with similar people puts people more at ease. @otakusan - A rough estimate was three grand but in all honesty, but I don't think I spent that much. The flight was about $650 round trip but if I would have bought my ticket earlier I could have gotten it for $580. The railpass was I think a little under $400 for 14 days. I never payed more than $20 a night for a place to stay so roughly about $200 total for that. Then the little wifi box was about $80. I think I had about $1000 for spending money which I had about $600 left over near the end of my trip. I had to find things to spend in on. I stayed mostly at backpacker places like hostels. I got around via trains, bullet trains and subway and bus. Mostly subway and train though.

How did you get a 650 round trip ticket? All the ones I see are at least 900

@DraconPern From what I've gathered when I nearly made the trip last year, price of air tickets to Japan often varies depending on what time of the year you choose to arrive. And I'm sure there's membership programs and stuff that give further discounts, depending on who you book a flight with, and all that jazz. The rainy season and the middle of winter are usually the cheapest times to arrive, apparently. @Everyone else. As for me, have already put off my trip three years, simply because my companions keep flaking out each year, so I will be hitting Japan this year no matter what in August. But I'm all for a return trip in 2017 with you guys. So go ahead and put another +1 person!

hahah YEAH!!! One More!!! @DraconPern I agree with Chocopyro it depends one when you fly out. What I think is that LAX is the best place to get tickets and fly out because of the volume of people that fly out from there. Then again I could be mistaken and just talking out of my ass. lol
