Ugh I fucking hate Christianity

verucassault
Eh I retract part of my statement. Lol I actually do want complete and total separation of church and state and want religion removed from all things government. I don't care that people practice it on their own, but to be fair and true to how our constitution and amendments are written, having those things stamped on government property is problematic. I'm just glad the Church of Satan has their shit together. They've kept the fundamentalist nut job politicians in Oklahoma in line for the last few years. Thank you Church of Satan. ^_^

I don't believe in that nonsense that religion is a major cause of war nowadays; even in Medieval times with nobility and serfs it's always used as a ploy to gain more land and control, still the same if you ask me. Christianity is also not racist and all those other things.. if you believe gays shouldn't marry because of the Bible then that's what you believe, doesn't default the person a bigot. I'm bisexual (sort of) and I am christian and I still don't believe gays should marry, but if that's the way it's going to be then so be it. It's just another stereotype.

For those who say that its not about fear, homophobia, aggression and violence, re-read your fucking book. It has passages clearly, with detailed instructions, denoting that you are to slaughter people who do not worship the same as you do, that gays, fornicators, drunks, and adulterers do not go to heaven. So in order to please your God, you have to murder the non believers, and be essentially a bigoted homophobe. As for war, yes, Christianity is a starter for many wars. The Crusades were sanctioned by the Roman Catholic Church, raped, killed and pillaged Jews and Muslims. For more recent examples, the Vietnamese civil war. The South Vietnamese government actively persecuted the Buddhist majority ( Ngo Dinh Diem was Christian, his Christian name was also Jean Baptiste ) which caused them to join the North Vietnamese ( Communist/atheist/Buddhist ) sanctioned Vietcong. The US intervened by the South Vietnamese request. US forces burned many sacred parts of the forests and shrines in Vietnam, in defence of a Christian dictatorship. To this day in Africa, Robert Mugabe is laying waste to Zimbabwe and persecuting Muslims and non-Christian Black and White people in a decades long civil war. So its not nonsense, get your fucking facts straight. If you're against gay marriage, you're a homophobe in my opinion. Go to ChristianMingle or something if you want to profess your homophobic beliefs.

And... Message ignored. People express opinions. Right or wrong, they are thier own and they are just opinions. Until it becomes a personal attack, there's no need for avid agression. I suppose debates are not your strong suit. He actually said in layman's terms, to each thier own. But, I guess if everyone was right, everyone would also be wrong.

Meh if it isn't religion it'll be something else. This type of behavior seems to simply be part of human nature at this point. If Christianity or religion itself were to vanish from the face of the earth, there's a very good chance that we'll find some other excuse to do horrible things to each other. Oh the boon and burden of a rational mind...

I don't care to debate. This is neither a debate team nor a debate thread. If it was a moderated debate, my rebuttal would have been different. As far as religion or something else, I do disagree.

@ Elder reaper I'm not a believer in gay marriage, but I have many gay friends. A gay guy I work with often grabs me and tells me how he wants me, and he is completely serious. I play along and at times even tease him because I think it's cute. You are not homophobic if you are against gay marriage. You are labeling people like you accuse Christians of doing.

elder has his reasons for why he feels that way, and nothing anyone says will change his mind plain and simple. i havent even read the bible in its entirety so i cant say anything on the issue but im not sure how much of it i trust. its composed of stories that happened over a period of time. There are too many different versions made and anyone can just come along and put in anything that they feel into it. For all we know there could be stuff in it that wasnt even in the original bible

Crimson Sun, thats the same as saying "I'm not a racist, I have black friends" If you don't believe two men or two women should get married, you're saying not everybody should be treated equal - The gay marriage laws don't force churches to condone gay marriage, but they do require the states to issue marriage licenses. Marriage isn't necessarily a religious process but also a common law process. As for labeling, I am not accusing Christians and Christianity of labeling. I am accusing the religion itself of being destructive to the well being of the world, racist, which they are - the Bible clearly states that the Caanite people ( that's Arabs for the layperson ) are not the people of God and can be freely slaughtered as if they're pestilence, homophobic, which it CLEARLY says in the New Testament and Old, obstructive to scientific and societal advancement, and a breeder of war, which you cannot refute, it is fact. Trying to refute Christianity's role in a war is like denying the Nazis were a Holocaust.

I think this thread is pointless because these topics never end and also because it seems the OP has an already stablished vision so... I'm going to still comment on this because I am a Christian, I believe in God and in that book "full of lies". I'm going to agree that it says homosexuality is abomination to the eyes of God, that it also says to worship God and to share His Word to the whole world. It also has a punishment against those believers that don't do so. It says liars, killers, adulterous people, prostitutes, everyone that commits a sin is bound to hell if not apologizing for their sins and recognizing them before death. It says a lot of things that people during their time misunderstood or, to be more precise, changed according to their own personal achievements. I don't think it is fair to say "your religion is at fault for every bad situation that happened through out the years of humanity's existence." because is not (I know not the words you used but somehow what you are saying). Even if Christianity didn't exist humans would still fight over trivial stuff. They still do so, this is why is unfair to blame religion on this. If you were to blame something or someone, fucking blame humans because of our endless stupid reasoning. Oh and most of the things done were because of the old testament. The new one clearly says all people including jews, hebrews and outsiders, foreigners or gentile can follow God through Jesuschrist, because He came to his own and they didn't receive him. So it's not racist at all. I repeat myself, religion it's not at fault yet the humans that practice religion, are.
