I prefer the dubs. Easier to follow in my opinion.

By asking them philosophical/historical/cultural questions or questions about fields they study<it reminded me that I read a book about blood diseases so as to make my conversation with a contact more entertaining in 2017..sure we did discuss anime/Japan>..or by sending cool links/memes <I'm sure my ways of starting conversations will embarrass most people (^_^)..>....I discussed the meaning of life with Auntron in the first conversation <August 2017>..

A bit late but yeah Muffin was a really nice and lovely person and would happily waffle on with me about all kinds of random nonsense - she was a blast to talk to! I really hope she comes back eventually but for now I really hope she's having a wonderful time!

I mean I'm down to try anything at least once, I feel if you don't you miss out the experience even if you end up disliking it. Though am also pretty weird so I only say the tame stuff ^-^ (see previous post)

I still don't think anime characters really resemble any real life 'race' in particular aside from the ones that are literally supposed to be a certain nationality or like a character in a fantasy or isekai based story. At the end of the day they're still just drawings and I believe it's quite arrogant to say things such as "lol they're drawing white people anyway" I'd be scared of white people if they literally looked like anime characters, I mean I don't think there's any people around that have big bug eyes like that. Would be a bit too uncanny valley for me.
All I can see is very idealized features which are universally considered beautiful no matter where you go.

Anyone knew anime in the 80s or further way back before the late 90s anime boom?

At the same time the American Famicom or Nintendo Entertainment System was booming in popularity and praise, I knew five children's animes about a decade before anime became widely known. Back then, the term "anime" wasn't heard by anyone in my area and no matter what region they came from, they were always called "cartoons".
Nowadays, I often sadly hear the term "anime" over its predecessor "manga", while even retro gamers usually like saying "weeaboo" at manga/anime fans while not realizing and don't care to know some games and platforms they play on may be Japan-made.
