MaiOtaku Steam Group?

toltecatl
This one I don't mind doing, but I'm only going to do it if there's enough interest. I'm connected to Steam whenever I'm not at work or sleeping, so Steam is my most available form of communication. This would also make it easy to get together in games. Thoughts?

Playing games with fellow MaiOtaku-ites on Steam sounds pretty legit. I second this!

Depends on what kind of games.

Probably whatever games we share in common. I myself have Borderlands 1&2, some COD games, Command and Conquer (all of them), Orcs Must Die 2, Payday, and a few others. I'm sure most of us have a Steam game they could play multiplayer with someone else on here. It's also good just for the chatting. I'm always logged onto Steam during the day.

If you're anything like me, you'd just 'buy ALL the games' when they have one of their epic sales. I don't usually buy games when they come out. The MP games I usually play are Age of Empires II HD, Borderlands 2 and Left 4 Dead 2. I own every Valve game on Steam and have played all of them, so I'd be up for any of those. I have them all installed, too, since I like to use the content in Garry's Mod. I'm also not opposed to playing free source mods such as The Hidden. As for anything else, I might have it but haven't actually played it yet.

If this gets some more hits, I'll start making the group in a few days. <del>I'm kind of a busy guy</del> waste a lot of time on the internet, so I won't get to it right away.

what are steam games

Steam is a digital distribution, digital rights management, multiplayer and communications platform developed by Valve Corporation. It is used to distribute games and related media online, from small independent developers to larger software houses - Wikipedia

Steam is kinda like the Playstation Network Store, except some differences and it's for PC. You buy games, download, and play them. Steam handles the most of the Social aspects of the games (providing communication between clients) and has features like cloud saves, where you're save file is saved online so you can access it from any computer so long as you log into your Steam account. You also don't have to worry about having to rebuy games if your hard drive dies, just install Steam and redownload and install your games.

I like Steam because they have really good sales from time to time. Like Borderlands2 for $10, Warbands $5, Shining Force II $2, Skyrim $20, Total War Shogun $10, Portal 2 $5, COD: MW2 $5, etc. Pretty much any Steam user can attest to their great sales.

Not the best explanation, but check it out for yourself. The Steam Store has a lot of games. And if you don't have Paypal/Credit-Card to make purchases, you can also use Steam Giftcards.

The best part is, even if you don't have a great PC, you could still buy a game you want that's on sale. You own that game forever and you'd be able to play it once you have a good PC. There's even a host of casual games and games that do not require a $2000 computer. If nothing else, you can download Steam and use it as an instant messaging program. It's free. Even some of the games are free. Perhaps you've heard of Team Fortress 2? It's free too. -Edit- Several variations of "MaiOtaku Steam Group" are already in use. Since a search yields no results, they must all be private. Hmpf. I guess this has been done before. Well, ours will be done better! It's gonna have hookers... and blackjack! -Edit- My bad. Apparently it just doesn't like "Steam Group" added to the end of things.
