Ive been building PCs for years. Spec'd out one for my brother recently. Mine is: Ryzen 5 1500x R9 380 16GB DDR4 SSD

I don't do it as a hobby but I did build my current PC back in 2014. It was pretty stressful since I couldn't get it to work properly so I thought something was faulty. Took me about 1-2 hours to realize I messed up with the RAM by not pushing it in hard enough lol. Gonna have to upgrade it soon since I use it to stream so it's getting hard to play some of the newer games. GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 CPU: i5-4690k MoBo: ASUS Z97-PRO RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB DDR3 PSU: CORSAIR CX600M 600W 80 PLUS BRONZE HSF: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO SSD: SanDisk Ultra Plus 2.5" 256GB SATA III HDD: Toshiba P300 3TB Hard Drive 7200 RPM Case: Rosewill, Gaming ATX Full Tower White

Heck yeah! Yeah a couple more dim slots would prolly help u out alot, ram is the communication from ur CPU to most everything else, get more ram and im sure ur pc would run 10x's cleaner

Yea I definitely gotta upgrade the ram to at least 16gb. I just built it for gaming when I first made it so didn't need the extra ram back then but now it's pretty essential. The only reason I haven't upgraded it is because I'd need a new Mobo for DDR4 ram which would also mean I'd need a new CPU as well. I was planning to replace my i5 anyway since it only has 4 cores and 4 threads. Something like the r7 3700x would be perfect.

3700x is over kill, save some money, get the 3700, its basically the same

Ram is just temp storage. It's only useful when you're dealing with games that require storing a lot of assets for quick reading. Most games use the GPU's VRAM and cpu to compute everything tho, so theres some overlap when diagnosing that stuff.
wolfneko
Mhm random access memory for renderings and stuff like that but ram is useful to have for games like fps for reaponse times
