Has anyone learnt Japanese and knows how to listen, read and write it?

nekorine
Excuse my awful English in the title I can't function today. Anyways, I was thinking of learning Japanese as an extra class. I'd like to know from an expert on the difficulty >_<. It's a first come first serve class so many replies will be welcomed, since the deadline is next week ;-;

The hardest thing I've come across is memorising kanji. In terms of spoken, its not too ridiculous to learn. Just learn the grammar rules. I'm not fluent though, this is just from my experience learning.

Hiragana isnt too difficult to memorise, and katakana is easy enough if you're good at memorising similar symbols

I aint that clever, Its all just kniwing good study technique. Make sure you study when you arent distracted and repeat things until they're stuck. Find what works for you in studying

Is the word order complicated and how about the listening? I remember trying to listen to Spanish and I was like 0-0
llemurr
The word order is pretty simple, tends to be "Subject - action/description - amendment" for most of what I've learned. I havent gotten to longer, advanced stuff yet tho
nekorine
^please simplify that with people of lower IQ. I will malfunction

I'm more or less fluent at this point and yes, Kanji is by far the hardest part of learning. It took me a good 2 years or so to memorize all of the everyday use ones and even now I still have to consult a dictionary every now and again. The most important part to japanese is definitely learning grammar as there's many context heavy phrases and expressions. This guide was incredibly useful for me: http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar
