I'm currently playing Echoes of Valentia. I had beaten Gaiden before in Jap so its taking me a while to beat Echoes since I kind of already know whats going to happen.
Best FE was the one with Eliwood Hector and Lyndis.
I'm only missing Thracia 776 to beat. I lost my emulator data on it :(
While Genealogy of the Holy War's mechanics are outdated (by today's standards), the story is grandiose. The children mechanic was a core part of the overall story, unlike Fates where it was just shoehorned in. It made more sense in Awakening.

Thracia is my favorite. I encourage anyone to play it, but I understand when people don't like it for the difficulty. :(
