I don't really like doing this sort of thing. It seems pretty childish. I want to be upfront and talk out the issue. If my partner wants to be a child and do this shit to me, I'm leaving them.
However, if my partner had a problem with other things that had nothing to do with me, I would leave them alone for a bit then offer them a hand.

It's abusive. It's almost universally considered abusive among psychologists, actually. Not discussing a subject when emotions are heated is wise and healthy, but that's a completely different concept from the silent treatment.
