He's buying it from someone local who has some. I always see ads for guns in the Nextech Classified. And he already owned one rifle. No he isn't exempt. We keep telling him to stop trying to get more guns because his dumb ass is going to go back to jail for having them and he knows its illegal for him. He isn't the smartest cookie. And yeah with the mental screenings it isn't going to be that easy. There will always be some loophole around it.

But we'll see if he actually gets it or not. I think its pretty lax in my state for gun ownership.

My contention was more on whether it was an actual assault rifle and not a semi-automatic rifle. People just throw around assault rifle but don't know what one is or isn't. Unless you live in a wealthy area I highly doubt this local has an actual assault rifle which no matter where you are - are extremely tightly regulated.

I haven't seen it and I'm going off of what he told me over the phone. He said he was spending all his tax return on it.

It's easier to buy an AR-15 in Florida than it is to buy a handgun. You are able to walk into a store and within minutes you can walk out with an AR-15. In most states it's just as easy to buy as well. Buyers can also buy from private sellers without a background check (the gun show loophole). https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/15/us/ar15-mass-shootings-guns.html Even federal legislation described the AR-15 as "an assault weapon". I'm not gonna debate this ad infinitum though. Just wanted to inform everyone of the facts. So everyone enjoy their weekends.

@sadjester: That statement is intellectually dishonest as all hell. No. It's not that easy. No, you don't simply walk in and out with a weapon. Those who pass through faster than others? It's called a clean record and background check. Would you rather make it harder for people without a mentally ill history and no crimes to get a gun? I really don't give two shits how you feel about guns when you're willingly spreading false information. Gun buyers have to go through background checks. Mental health issues tend to be noted in records as well. Gun shops are also legally required to report suspicious behavior and heavy arms sales to the FBI. they have done so in the past, only for the FBI to ignore it until he shot some place up. You obviously pay very little attention so let me enlighten you about how far regulated guns already are here... You can't legally buy an automatic rifle in s gun shop. You first must be cleared to own it through HEAVY background checks and pay a ridiculous sum of money on top the price of a gun. Also you cannot legally buy modern automatic weaponry. So next time learn a little about our culture and laws before you decide to crawl out of your shithole of a country to lecture us on our firearms.

https://www.dailywire.com/news/21897/flashback-reporter-tries-prove-buying-assault-ryan-saavedra I wonder if lefties hate guns because they have records and aren't allowed to carry?

Moore, As intelectually dishonest as it is.... it isssss possible to be in and out in minutes and long guns tend to be less regulated (18 v 21 mostly) So jester isnt wrong per se just misleading. He isnt much less educated on the matter than the typical liberal in America. Although he did bring up gun show loophole .... As for the AR-15 thing again misleading but not entirely wrong. In Pennsylvania I could be in and out quickly (as quick as a gun lover leaves a gun store anyway) since I can pass a background check or dont meet any other disqualifier.

Fatalis - depending on his return it could be a very fine rifle but im 99.9% sure it wont be an actual assault rifle.
