Canada has 5.1 firearm homicides per 1 million people. United States has 29.7 firearm homicides per 1 million people (as stated before).
And it is ridiculous that the CDC has been banned from researching gun violence since 1996.
This ban was put in place because various studies found that having a gun in the house increases the risk of homicide and suicide.
Before the ban, back in in 1994 Dr. Mark Rosenberg, the director of the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, said "We need to revolutionize the way we look at guns, like what we did with cigarettes ... It used to be that smoking was a glamour symbol—cool, sexy, macho. Now it is dirty, deadly—and banned.”

The AR-15 is the weapon that is used in most of the shootings, and was used in the last shooting too.
There is a reason why these shooters use this weapon. More on the AR-15:

I don't think my nationality has anything to do with it though. I'm stating the facts.

Its really easy to obtain a number of assault rifles and other weapons in my state and there have been a number of shootings to occur, but I don't think it made national news ever.
I don't think we should ban all guns because of this, but some things do need to change so we can decrease the number of shootings that are happening.
1. Banning/regulating the sell of certain weapons that meet a criteria (small arms and hunting not included).
2. Paying attention to what people are saying/doing. We seem to take threats pretty seriously here.
There is a number of things I could list off, but I don't think they'll do them.
And don't get me wrong, I like my guns just as much as the next guy/gal, but I don't see the need in having a high powered assault rifle and a number of other large or small guns. In my own opinion I feel that I only need a few small arms in my home for self defense and maybe a hunting rifle.
Another thing to look at is how people are acquiring it all? Some means aren't legal at all and can be hard to trace.

That's true Jester. Some of the incidents that occur in the home are accidental as well. Most people don't know how to use a gun properly and safely. I know a few people that have shot themselves or someone else on complete accident because they were fooling around with what they thought was an empty gun. People NEED to know proper gun safety if they are going to have one at all.

The problem with some of that is if they diagnose him with some mental illness then he might not see prison and he'll go somewhere else. Main reason why alot of them try to plead insanity.

So the move to ban AR-15's is flawed in many ways.
First, what if the manufacturer just creates an identical gun and call it AR-16, or what if they make minor tweaks to it? Obviously, then specific gun itself is not what you want to ban, right?
So this is the reason given in that article for why the AR-15 is used:
The NRA said "the AR-15 has soared in popularity" because it's "customizable, adaptable, reliable and accurate." It is also versatile and can be used for "sport shooting, hunting and self-defense situations," the NRA said, adding the ability to "personalize" so many of the rifle's components "is one of the things that makes it so unique."
So what here do we want to ban? Should we make all guns inaccurate? That's going to be much more dangerous than allowing accurate guns. Reliable? Do we want someone who's defending themselves to have their gun jam on them in the heat of the moment, or for someone's gun to blow up in their hands?
What about the rest?
Customizable, adaptable, to me these sound like the same things. So the AR-15 is customizable by design, is that what we want to ban? What about the customization of guns that are done regardless of whether or not the gun was customizable by design?
And surely just about any gun can be used for sport shooting, hunting, and self defense. That's what makes it a gun.
And then we get to the meat of the article:
"It’s really just a perception thing," Hazen said. "There are rifles that are more powerful and more dangerous than that, but they're not being used."
The AR-15 is being used because it is popular. Not because it is effective. Banning the most popular guns is the same as a total ban on guns. Once you get down to one gun that's legal, it's the most popular gun, and must be banned.

Also Fox I think that's a very interesting view about our countries, and I think there's a lot of reasons to think that's the case. Just remain open to the possibility that it might not be that way. Though I do think you're on to something there.
