That was way too harsh Ed. Just because somebody is passionate and loyal, doesn't mean they're weak-minded. Believe me, everyone has a breaking point. Even the most devoted man will flip the table and walk away, when he's asked for something absurd. We're prideful creatures after all. Doesn't matter if bf or gf though. It's more valuable to have somebody who's willing to sacrifice a lot just to make you smile, than having somebody who will immediately leave you in the dust because of the simplest argument. Honestly, the latter seems like egoistical people full of themselves who feel to be superior in every way to everyone around them. *shrugs* But that's just my own personal opinion and point of view. Not really telling you to agree with it, everyone has their own idea of right and wrong. Plus we both don't even know Max's story, or maybe you do considering your assertive answer.
