10 years+ of physical & psychological therapy. That was the start of the offspring of horrible things. :/

re: Hecatia Well, that's partially why I said the system would be opt-in for whatever sites choose to partake. Those places that genuinely care about promoting healthy social environments are more likely to take it seriously than, say, some random fan site dedicated to Overwatch or something. Realistically, things like word filters, giant TOS rules nobody reads, threats of bans, and the foolishly passive "don't feed the trolls!" rhetoric has gotten us collectively nowhere in the near 20 years I've been surfing the net. You can bet on any site with moderate or greater traffic, GMs and the like are overworked, underpaid, and sometimes biased or even held back by the very rules they're meant to uphold. Inevitably, it's the lack of tangible consequences that leads to trolling and harassment going unchecked. And for the sake of clarity, I don't simply associate disagreement with trolling. It's not a distinction everyone makes, but I see it somewhat too frequently. Anyway, I was bullied enough when growing up. It still happens on the net from time to time, too. I've probably developed my own brand of thick skin by now, but I can't bring myself to say that's a good thing, either. I still have bad days where sometimes it feels like Me vs. The World without a single ally in sight. Hell, that's partially why I sought out sites like this, the hope that enough related interests could minimize the risk of people going full douchebag for lack of understanding/disdain/lulz. And while I'm still new, I can't say things are busy around the forums for moderation to at least be feasible, but in realizing all the public/private messaging that can go on behind the scenes, well, maybe that can snowball. Overall, this isn't the first place I've broached this subject, and it's not really the first time I've seen the implied paranoia of lost freedoms, violation of net neutrality, or whatever. "Your site, your rules!" is something I'm cool with, again pointing back to the opt-in nature, where the sites who do agree to the idea become a sort of internet UN. Of course, it's also why I inferred there should be distinctions in infractions. A hook-up site might not care so much about someone cheating/botting a game, but other gaming communities may. I wouldn't 100% infer permanence to a history, either. Sometimes people do learn, so second chances should be expected if the initial offense isn't egregious enough. Maybe I'm weird, but I don't find being nice, or at least cordial, to be difficult. Do unto others and all that. For some, though, you'd swear they're allergic. :/

Well there's been a few moments. When I opened my first account with a bank when I was younger..I wasn't aware of the overdraft fee. I learned real quick. I was 5 cents overdrawn and well, that quickly turned into $500. Thought my life was over lol. Never made that mistake again, ever since then I just turned the overdraft charge off.
