When you don't know what to say

I also say "I do not know how to respond to that" in most cases. But, I usually use that because I don't want to be rude. Or, if it is for something cute like this! http://i.imgur.com/oXiNiKt.gif But then I would probably put an emoji after I write out my phrase~ @Mariah and Smile Even if empathy is a huge weakness of mine, I never forget that I am speaking to another human being. There isn't much gain for being rude, even if honest, to another person. There are far more than one way of being honest. Being rude is just one of them :) But, I also see where you are coming from. People believe that if something offends them, then that argument is immediately invalidated. Which isn't always the case!

Come up with another topic/change subject. I seem to be famous for that not intentional of course -_-.

@mariahaise Though this is in the "Relationship Advice" part of the forums, my view on this question is for more general terms since it never said exactly what the type of message is. Yes, it is right to be honest when it's relationship related. But in general my response to you was what if it wasn't stupid. No matter what reason it is, it doesn't always have to be stupid. You can be as honest and blunt as you want to be, but in generally speaking, there might just be something you can't respond to. I'm a very blunt person that can't notice the feelings of others, I come off as a full on asshole at times. But due to my kind nature, I try to avoid such things since people refuse to understand that I didn't mean it like that. So I'm not saying that you're wrong, I'm saying that there are other possibilities that you might not be aware of. Like it not being stupid.
