Gintama is a shounin parody/comedy anime. It follows a samurai who uses a wooden sword in the edo era of Japan, but aliens took over 20 years before so everyone has technology. They have rights to a lot of anime, so they can include whatever references they want. Examples: gintoki complains about his lack of bankai(bleach) and once claimed to have a dream of wanting to become king of the samurai (one piece) https://i.ytimg.com/vi/AXDqlWuYOfM/hqdefault.jpg Shinsekai yori is a utopian world where humans can have psychic powers. First impression has the feeling of a Ghibli film, but then the dark plots unravel. Soo good.
