Unpopular opinions

I am not referring to law. Everyone should do what they wish. I am actually referring to the people. But yeah, in my opinion that deviates people from the purpose of true beauty. And, by consequence makes everything "beautiful". If everything is beautiful, then nothing is beautiful at all, because beauty is meant to stand out amongst the mundane.

Progression is one thing. No one starts doing a Monalisa out of pure talent. Pure talent sometimes is overestimated... veeery overestimated. Digital art, for example. When I first got into spriting, I didn't do most of what I can do nowadays, and tbh, I still think it's little to what I can do to better my craft. That's an example. But the best craft I would be most comfortable doing at the style I love would be inferior to someone doing a whole landscape in 3D, something I really dislike.

My critique is more regarding pieces of art that are overvalued. Like, if you compare Renaissance pieces to Contemporary art, one would most always would say Renaissantce art is the more beautiful in objective terms. Contemporary and Modern art generally put Beauty aside to give place to Meaning and Symbolism. Not saying all of them are shit, some pieces are beautiful and meaningful. But unfortunately, they are the exception, because most of them survive because of Meaning alone, while in the past, Meaning had to walk with Beauty and vice versa. That's my point. Art, while being the exhibition of Expression and Creativity, it is much more the display of Beauty and Complexity (if you aren't into religion), while also the Expression of Virtue (if you have religion).
