I think that any woman who can't at least identify what a Gundam is probably wouldn't be a good match for me anyways. Then again, women my age grew up in the heyday of Gundam Wing on Toonami, a show that attracted legions of fangirls and launched a god damn renaissance of yaoi fanfics.

I honestly have no idea. I like figures because they're cool, but at the same time I find filling your room/house with collectors shelves full of them is creepy as hell. I can understand a few favorite figures decorating your desk but beyond that nope. I don't know very many women who collect to that extreme though, so it's never come up for me (being super shy and not meeting people IRL doesn't help either I guess).

I kinda have a fear if I ever find someone irl and she sees it she might think I'm a kid and get turned off. But I do tend to keep my collection around the safe area. Nendroid that look cute but cool in a way. Same with figures. There are some I want that are cast off but those are pretty cool looking ones like Satan from orchid seed's seven deadly sins line.
But if a girl finds it disturbing and is turned off from it, then it probably wasn't meant to happen.

I have reworked and put a little more thought into this topic than I previously had. I read some other comments, and I think I've come up with a better conclusion. Anything in an unhealthy limit is not good, so if someone is collecting to the point where all they do is collect figurines-it's a problem. You need more than just figurines in your life. If it's a major hinderance on your life, you gotta control it, which is where romantic conflict is the only logical outcome.
HOWEVER, if it's a hobby you healthily enjoy, its fine. Hopefully you find a chick who's into it too, and you can share in the joy of hunting for new figures. I have a few, like 4 or 5 that I really like, and I don't think I need many more. I do think it's a little odd if you're house and room are filled with them, but that's just me speaking. But yeah, to a moderate and healthy degree, you're fine. Go get a girl who thinks it's cool.

I agree. There might be like hundreds of figures in my wish list but I'd be damned to buy that whole list.I get picky and pick out certain ones that truly stand out. Money can be spent on games, other media, going out, ect.
Other community I am part of has a couple people who do it to an unhealthy extent. When I see orders of theirs hit $1k+ I start to wonder why. Wallet suicide is what I call it.

Agreed. If your collection is like this when you're looking for a date, it might be time to start rethinking your priorities.

But if you're happy being surrounded by your favorite subject like that, power to ya'.

I used to have the same concern but after a while I just stopped caring- no ass is worth thinking that much about. Now I wish I was super slutty and would just take guys back to my room only for them to faced with like 60 anime figures just like body pillows of my boyfriendos and I just never address it. Like he'll try to say something about and I just respond with confusion that is like the funniest scenario and I want it to be my reality. Though I guess for guys you don't want the girl to walk out, different priorities and such.
Digression aside if you're looking for a hookup and the girls not into anime its probably not gonna go over well, but if its an actual relationship and you're not a closeted anime she'll probably tease you about it but I don't think theres any risk of a break up unless its a serious obsessive going broke for the waifu type deal.

@mrzsfo415 I don't have a problem with gundams, I mean I grew up with robotech/macross and gundam and so on so it's not a big deal. That being said, I might be a bit taken a back if it's anything like the above pikachu collection picture. That's a little too... in your face even for something that I think is cool...
