Living with Dyslexia

So, im going to be very open with you all. I do have a learning disability. Its not "slight" its not occasionally flipping a word and going "teehee im so Dyslexic" Its a full on, daily struggle, that effect my spelling, talking, learning, problem solving,typing, and yes reading. When i was younger i hide it, i hide that i couldn't read.. or i didn't understand what the teacher was saying.. that when i left, i was going to just talk with a doctor .. and not going to a special ed class. No one really know, my closets friend thought i was like them, almost able to go into the GATE program (advance learning for smurt kids).. Im a good faker.. or was. ANYWHO ive notice on this site, its the first one that i haven't been called out for my goofy grammar mistakes, or useing a close to word cuss i have no idea how to spell and that what spell check told me it was So i must ask, everyone here just that awesome? or familiar with the struggles of learning Disability's? ((as ive grown older, i've learned to embrace what i am, who i am, and know that yes im smart.. just in a different way. )) So bit of background I was in specile Ed until my High schoole life. I wasm deemed able enough to attend normle classes. BUT i already missed like.. 5 years of English and basic grammar classes. There was no in between they just POOF normle English! ( i went form not reading to straight into chapter books.. so.. no idea how that happened)

If that's true, I must applaud you. There's no faking smart you either are or you aren't. To hop right to chapter books is impressive. There are people who DON'T have dyslexia who can't spell (and can barely speak). I'm not talking tricky words like necessary or receive. I mean basic words. The fact that you outclass something close to every other person I've ever met says a lot about your ability.

Thats a first,0 -o ((never been called a faker)) In my case in facking it, i went the weird way around things. Never made friends in my class so they never truly saw the struggles i went throw.((still go throw luicly the job i work at the search engine is kind) and i would memories the PISS out of things. But someone who has this disability there is a time when you cant do that anymore there just to much, and at that point most give up But thank you, i worked daily (even now) to just build and gain more knowledge so i can say Yea i have a disabilty but its not gonna stop me!

Its takken many years to enbrace it, even harder to carry on comusayhions (spell check is NOT working on this word) on the internet (post a few mistakes and people go on losing there mind cuss of IM A SELF PROCLAIMED GRAMMA NAZI HOW DARE YOOUUUUU and they loose the point of what im talking about or trying to talk about and.. just focus on the faults. Witch i well say, has driven me backwards MANY a times to be secluded, to read what other say type of something i want to add... then delete it because i just wasn't up to seeing the bashing or the teasing that you get. It happens less and less now a-days but its still a thing and something to this day i well 50% of the time not talk.. err.. type

I have a learning disability, two of them actually: Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia. I'm not stupid, not by any means, but handwriting is a painful and difficult experience, and as a result of that I'm terrible with math. To really understand, it causes me pain to write,and my writing is VERY vision-based. If I were blindfolded, I can't write. I'm glad I'm not dyslexic, because that would make my work very hard. Since I'm mostly in front of computers, my hand writing tasks are slim to none most days, but I do have to read fast and understand it thoroughly and easily. My daily life isn't affected, but academics are and always will be, I've given up, really on it. Try OpenDyslexic, a computer font you can install on pretty much any computer ( I have it on HP-UX, for crying out loud! ) http://opendyslexic.org/. Should help you with reading. You can set it as default in browsers ( Firefox ) email ( Thunderbird ) and Office Suite ( MS Office, Apache OpenOffice or LibreOffice all work ) and then when you go to print, simply change the font. *communications* XD you're welcome XD lol sorry im just playing but anyways I don't think you have to worry too much about others say. they might say something rude, but they don't understand you and never take them seriously a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, its not going to be easy, its going to be worth it :P this quote remains in my head eggs

@elder- I have heard about that site i actually kept up with it before its launch, but for now i am okay since most of the time when i do have issues reading its way past the time i need to be in bed. Some days worse and stuff all makes since.. other days im running right into brick walls. At home i have the freedom to check, re-read and such. The program is nice yes, BUT its not something not feasible to use at my current job (where it becomes most appernt with customers over looking my shoulder and stressing me out) nor well it help me with spelling errors.. since thats not caused by not being able to read but by not being able to grasp all the goofyness of English grammar So thanks but no thanks. But i've learned something new today. school wise having that must of STUNK. So thank you so much for shareing. @Devil- Oh yea, its easy to say, but when you try many times to talk and all u get is hate or being ignored.. form time to time it can get to yea. but as you can tell, i dont let it completely run my life.. Im still active online, and activly posting.. just.. being choosy where i go

You have some spelling errors here and there, seemingly from phonetic confusion. I had to memorize how most words were spelled in school, until about 8th grade where it started to come naturally. Grammar seems okay, syntax-wise. Misplaced words, some capitalization, etc. The OpenDyslexic font is mostly designed to assist with your brain recognizing the differences between similar looking letters, such as I and l, b and d, et cetera. Since you probably have a documented disability I don't see why your employer wouldn't allow it to be installed - its totally a reasonable accomodation, but suit yourself - just providing a tool that people I know who are dyslexic use.

Yeah wasn't looking to be corrected first off. Second off I just said it's my spelling not my reading comprehension, so at this point this program to me is worthless (at home and at work) iT WOULD have been AWESOME 7 years ago Not so much now.
