Which is better? Depending who you ask, the answers seem split. Most older gamers will say 6 is the best, while most "younger" gamers will say 7. Both have their pros and cons, but which one takes the cake?
Discuss!
Remember, this is only on 6 and 7, no other FFs.

Final Fantasy 6 by far. Kefka was the most human out of all the villains and was way more believable than any of the other final fantasies.
Also, overall it was just a more enjoyable game whereas 7 didn't really do anything different except look flashy. The game itself in terms of an rpg was a rather sub-par experience and had some of the most mary-sue generic characters in it.

I also go with 6, obviously. Everything I said in that thread still holds true to my beliefs.

Personally, I love 6, but I'm a FFVII fanboy. Based on what Square's intention was at the time, how FFVII is structured actually makes a lot of sense. It was the first RPG to appeal to a large audience. Take that as you will, but the bottom line is that FFVII impact on the industry is still sending waves throughout the industry to this day.
That being said, even as a fanboy, I'm also well aware on how overrated FFVII really is. To say one is better? Well, for me, I can't really say. I thoroughly enjoyed both, it's just that I haven't played VI in a very long time whereas I play through VII every couple of years. But, to each their own.

Dj: I do agree 7 Was, although over rated, a good game. I said in a post somewhere, I forget where, that my gripes with 7 is the lack of every or into the 3d rendering of the characters, nobou's seemingly less "in to it" style of music vs. 6, the generalization and lack of depth of most characters, and the unoriginallity of its "original" features.
The 3d modeling was ok for it just coming into mainstream gaming. My thing about it though is after the wake of massively successful games like ff6 and Chrono trigger, they could have done a much better job. Take, for example, nights: into dreams for the Sega Saturn. This Game was created by a failing console yet has graphics 10x crisper and non blocky than the high budget FF7. Personally, I feel like they could have done better.
The music in 6 Was absolutely amazing. It was nobou's big huzzah for ff6s being the last one on the snes/s. Famicom. it seemed to me he pot everything he had into making such an amazing composition for a16 bit system, and it's limitations. The PS1 had 32- bits and the music didn't reflect it, outside one winged angel... but that being said, it's no where near dancing mad.
I shouldnt have to go into character depth vs 6.
The original features in 7 claimed the the materia system and limit break system were the first of is kind in ff series, when in actuality, the materia system is just a much more complex version of the job change in ff5, and limit breaks are just a controlled version of the limit breaks in 6, except you don't have to be in critical hp to use them.

FF7 has a bigger fanbase, I like to think there's a good reason behind it. It made gamers cry.. for one thing. That's a bit hard to pull off. I mean, they didn't make sequels and spinoffs and movies on FF6 or 8... there's a reason they chose 7. I have yet to play 6, so I guess I'm going on my opinion from one and what I've seen of 6.
The "blockyness" was a minimalist style design choice which gives it it's own unique aesthetic not seen in any other game. Given more polygons like in FF8, the characters start to look painful on the eyes due to the limited resolution.
