Research

That would be good, besides the cycle issue but then again its a small trade off for what you are receiving. I would agree that there are quite a few memories that we all obtain in our lives that for the most part really serve us no use but to make us go back to them. Ones that dont give us any inspiration just small little things non eventful. The Filter idea or to keep the core memory would be pretty good though if we could do it that way. The next though that has me , is the whole morality and ethics thing I mean by all means if we look at it from just a progression of research and such then we can get there. However there are certain undetermined events that could lead to its downfall if the people are against it enough. I think its safe to assume that there will be some sort of backdrop and at least a sizable portion of people will have dislike for this kind of technology labeling it as not natural or going against certain things they put beliefs into. Now this by itself would not really stop the research but if we have multiple groups coming into it opposing it then that could lead to undesirable events. Then theres the question of what people will do with the technology as it progresses how will it effect our society views on how we perceive others and life in general. But thats not so easy to provide a answer seeing as we dont even have a clear path to what will happen with the technologies progression and how it will go about itself. Then theres the military, if we get this technology then what will they do with it?

Those are all reasons why I wish to fund my own research and thus have no ties to anything else and have the possibility of keeping it completely and utterly secret until the debut and then simply destroying all the research after completion. There's also the possibility of just taking bits and pieces of certain technologies and piecing them together to make the whole project work but that would be more difficult to keep hidden. I doubt that the technology would be anywhere near the media after a certain level of completion due to other agencies and such realizing that exposure for such a thing is not a good idea. Now if we were to assume that I somehow got an organization together that was funded via very different means it would also be possible to research each field independently on a different basis to retain funding and still develop said technology and then piece the technology together in secret like before. Though that would be increasingly harder to hide and would most likely develop a lot of competition...and you'd have to cross your fingers and hope nobody connected the dots between the research fields you were working in. Now say we were very open about what was going on this research development would get nowhere fast. Would be shut down by not only religious fanatics but also other zealots and possibly government agencies getting involved for various reasons...possibly even hijacking the research if one military were to get a-hold of a pheasible product and set of instructions on how to complete said product and capable practitioners and proper facilities then I think the fate of the world would change for the worse seeing the past history with military weapons being implemented, never resulting in anything less than mass bloodshed.

^I've had the same thoughts. I have no doubt that research is being conducted in this field by the USA, probably China, Japan and mybe Germany or some Scandinavian countries.

So last night I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't sleep at all, was really restless and my mind couldn't stop cranking out ideas. I'm pretty sure I solved the airborn aircraft carrier delima as well as possibly turned it into a submarine and with a proper power source could possibly break atmosphere and make it into space...also may have figured out a way to make that power source though theoretically if there is no way to siphon off the power fast enough it will most likely explode with more force than the worst atomic bomb ever made <.< So...I may have almost figured out the key to bringing about the extremes of all of the research I have done up until now...

Well then...I'll just call up NASA and tell them we don't need them anymore, Karasu's got it covered...

There are...issues to say the least, with what I have thought of >.> NASA wouldn't even touch the energy source...I'm not sure any reputable scientist would even try for fear of repercussions of what would happen if it worked <.< even IF you could somehow stabalize and harness the energy faster than the device could provide it, at the simplest of things going wrong you'd be left with a disaster worse than hiroshima....if anything survives at all that is...

If you concentrate enough energy into a small enough are you could presumably create a wormhole of sorts, or just a type of black hole, since matter and energy are just different forms. Also, we still haven't tapped into the full potential of harnessing energy from matter. Fission and fusion are actually a very limited form of this in comparison to the potential. Not sure what you figured out though.

I'm aware of our energy harnessing limitations...which is why I'm pretty sure the idea itself wouldn't work due to not being able to harness enough of the energy fast enough <.< to say the least the idea involves time travel loosely...so if you would like to know more just send me a message and I'll explain as much as I can...as sanely as I can xD. There are controversial new means of harnessing energy though...and if you could get them to work it just might be possible to stabilize the amount of energy I'm talking about. A wormhole of sorts would be interesting and theoretically possible and is one of the ways they're contemplating long distance space travel...but there's a bunch of issues with that involving actually getting things to survive the trip through. Black holes are plain dangerous and is one of the dangers of the energy source I'm talking about considering an energy detonation could force open a black hole large enough to not self close...which would be the end of our earth.

I am personally more worried about that jinping dark matter search lab in china. If anything were to go wrong well it would not be good.
