I agree Jikokun it is a shame. Unfortunatley you need to play office politics game to help you get ahead. I don't so well so I'm kinda stuck where I am; been at least 7 plus years. Doesn't matter, I'm probably going back to school and get a new degree and more education.

Jikokun, I don't want to be rude. But maybe you don't work in the right type of businesses if you haven't seen anyone with different colored hair. Being a cosmetologist, I see many people who have crazy hair colors. Not only do cosmetologists, artists, performers, etc have crazy colored hair. But I know a lot of people in film (both camera men, sound operators, etc. and the actors, make-up artists, etc.), gaming corporations (there are a few based where I live and I've met a few up the higher ups because of my job.) I also know of a lawyer and banker who have crazy hair who wear a wig to work or when they are on a case...... It really depends upon where you work and how dedicated you are to your hair. As I stated earlier, if it's a "family oriented" business or if it's a real cut and dry business type place. No, it's not typically accepted because it's an older business with older ideals. But corporations that are newer, or trying to implement newer ideals, are much more forgiving with appearances. For example, my best friend's mom is the head of financing at her job. I've asked her questions about hiring, and she's told me what she looks for. Which she stated "Looks don't hold any weight. I'm looking for credentials and an ability to do your job. Who cares if you have tattoos and silly hair. It's your ability to work that gets you the job." Also, on a side note, though you are right that it's rare in incredibly popular and commercial businesses that you'll find higher ups with hair like mine. It isn't hard to make a lot of money with my color hair if you're good at your job. My sister, who is also a cosmetologist and has fun hair, makes over 200,000 a year and she's been working for two years... So... yeah...

You're welcome! And yep! A lot of people who are older or have a higher position in their job will either get a certain haircut so that they can hide the fun color, or wear a wig specifically for work. The banker I know is also a singer of a punk band! It's that awesome?? But you're totally right on the blue hair thing. One of my really good friends just colored her hair this super pretty blue and with her pale skin and blue eyes, it's to die for! She looks so cute!!!
