Non-Affectionate People.

I understand the pains of life more than most people my age. These pains have caused my reluctance to grow close to people.

In my stereotyping of the masses that surround me, I'd say people do tend to think it's odd not to enjoy incessant affection. Holding hands, hugging, kissing, romantic dinners, movies, cuddling, candles, ect seem to be considered the staple of any male-female relationship. I'd hypothesis that this is because that the most direct way to "show one's love" is through intimate physical interaction. However, if I have learned anything from myself, it is that this is not necessarily true, and can lead to pitfalls. In short, one can go through these displays of affection, yet not have any, and perhaps either ulterior motives or just hormones acting up (misjudging "lust" for "love"). As such, I believe it is well within the realm of reason to not be satisfied with such things as the catalyst for relationships. But that is not to say that DAs are not useless or bad. They are merely a means of communication. Any relationship relies on good communication. If DAs are not your thing, then other means of communication should take up that vacuum. (My personal belief is that DAs are supplements to an already steady relationship, rather than the base) In short, being the way I am, I'm not an affectionate person either. I choose to communicate through words/discussions and my behavioral pattern over time in order to express myself. I cannot say whether I am right or ignorant, as this is my first life and I've yet to reap any evidence in favor of my thesis, but I am well satisfied being the way I am. If people get frustrated because I don't want to hug all the time and say cute one liners, then I shall find one that is satisfied with my methods of expression.

I'm kinda afraid to touch people because I'm not used to people hugging me, or even being next to me. I shiver sometimes but I guess I don't really have experience in it.

not at all, everyone is a little different. i don't like pda but me and my boyfriend/friends are very touchy feely
