Maybe, I think a lot of things are circumstantial. Like a car crash can be the fault of another person and you, the other driver, had no fault but following street rules and wrong place/wrong time.

No, you don't. It just happens. But the difference between a car crash and choosing the amount of classes is that a person can decide how much of their time will be devoted to school and may later drop a class if it's too much, with a car crash it's instantaneous and any previous decisions that lead up to it cannot be changed.

Right, I'm just thinking of reasons for choosing to do 18 hours rather than less. One can push themselves to the limit to see what they are capable of even if it isn't desirable, even if that means sacrificing things.

He probably over scheduled himself either because he wanted to push himself, had a limit on how long he could stay for semesters and thus went for doing as many possible, or just isn't very social and enjoys having a lot of work to fill his time.

He chose to do 18 hours so it's definitely his decision that lead to lack of time. It's worse if he also decides to take on a job because then he has to plan time to do homework and projects more carefully. I take 15 hours and looking for a job but I'm still worn out because of creative projects, reports, homework and studying for tests. Also pre-planning other things like classes for next semester and beyond making sure I can graduate on time with double majors. I'd die if I tried 18 hours unless it was stuff that turned out to be really easy.

I have philosophical debates all the time about random stuff. ^^ I like those types of conversation because they dig deep into something that generally isn't focused on.

Sounds interesting. And yeah, that's me. Up at all hours or sleeping to catch up.
