Mononoke is a spin-off of the Bakeneko story arc of Ayakashi - Japanese Classic Horror. It follows the Medicine Seller as he deals with various spirits or "Mononoke" in feudal Japan.

While fighting to save his village from the attack of a demon-god Ashitaka comes in contact with it and is inflicted with a deadly curse. In his search for a cure he is forced to leave his village forever and journey to the forest inhabited by animal gods.

Naota is a normal Japanese 6th grade boy, cynical about life and just wanting to be left alone. But his older brother leaves for America to play baseball, leaving his homeless 17 year old girlfriend Mamimi behind.

Colette Brunel is the Chosen of the dying world of Sylvarant, and she embarks on a journey to regenerate the world in the name of the people she loves. Her childhood friend, the headstrong fighter Lloyd Irving, follows in order to help her achieve her goal.

The story revolves around a mysterious calamity which plunges the world into a state of chaos. This causes Hibiki Kuze and his friends Daichi Shijima and Io Nitta to be suddenly thrown from their normal lives into a battle of survival against creatures called Septentriones—heralds of the alien entity known as Polaris, sent to destroy the spiritual barriers protecting Japan from its recreation tool known as the Void.
