i dont really have any major favorite genres, but one think i always like in anime, manga, books or really anything is when there is romance but it is not the main part of the story or is a supporting part of the story. the major examples i can think of would be Valkyria Chronicles, Macross Frontier, FMA brotherhood,and things like that.
