The story follows Issei Hyodo, a dim-witted, lecherous second-year high school student who is killed by a girl on his first date ever. Issei is reincarnated as a devil, and from that day forward, he serves as an underling of Riasu, a high-level devil who is also the prettiest girl on Issei's campus.

The series is set in a world where magic exists and has been utilized as a technology for nearly a century. Rather than casting spells with chants or other traditional forms of spellcasting, mages use a Casting Assistant Device, better known as a CAD.

Youkai Academy has reopened since the damages done to the school during the riot (Season 1). Aono Tsukune now returns to school, but unlike the last time he first walked into the academy, he now has the blood of a vampire flowing within him.

In a strange time there is a war that never stops - inn world where flesh-eating monsters are roaming the streets, only one organization has the means to save the world from the Chiropterans and total destruction: Red Shield. The story focuses on the world of illegal Japanese street racing, where all the action is concentrated in the mountain passes and rarely in cities nor urban areas, and the drift racing style is emphasized in particular. Keiichi Tsuchiya helps with editorial supervision.
