I was thinking of rosetta stone but in most sites and books, the first thing they recommend is to learn Hiragana and katakana first. I think I'm gonna start there.

Not too far the farthest one I go to is Colossalcon in June which is about a 4-5 hour drive.

Aw that's so exciting! I've always wanted to go to Otakon but I'm stuck just going to cons nearby. It depends on the outfit really some I have bought but I try to mostly make mine. Just depends on how much it cost versus buying or making and how lazy I am. xD I hope you can find someone I usually just buy my costumes on ebay.
