It's a poor attempt by your state to prove that they are advancing education and trying to get kids interested in engineering.

I see, so it's mechanical design. Those kinds of classes can get really hard if the person teaching it doesn't know how to teach. Thankfully he can't fail you for trying since it's a somewhat creative class. I'm not a fan of mechanical engineering. Also not a fan of classes that are just there to teach you how to use a program...programs change all the time. It won't even be relevant in 5 years.
