It gets wayy better eventually, but I guess it depends on what type of anime you like. I first tried to watch it once and did the same thing, but then watched the whole thing later on and it was spectacular. I normally shy away from anime I have never seen, but then get bored of re-watching everything I have seen. But I can definitely agree that the first few episodes aren't their best. I personally love the last episode the best. I watched it in subbed version, am now about to watch it dubbed.
