Okay, this wall post is going to sound like my diary circa 2008 when I graduated from college, so prepare for waterworks, haha! The primary language in our home is English and Chinese. I went to a private school with Spanish leanings, so we have a lot of Spanish classes mostly for prayers and the like, but most of my friends are already speaking Spanish and English at home. Very few of us speak the Filipino language which proved hard when we went to a co-ed, national university. We all wanted so much to blend in, but instead we stood out, sometimes not in a good way. We didn't know how to fit in properly because speaking Filipino is expected, or else you'll be branded as an elitist or a pseudo-intellectual. The people who managed to get to know me understood that it's not really my fault that I speak English better than Filipino, it's just the reality I was raised in. I made very few new friends in college, by the way. I was scared of boys, for one, and I dated my professor and had to keep it a secret until I graduated, so most of my college years were spent in secret and sticking to old friends only. That's why being branded as privileged and pretty really gets to me. I was scared of people thinking that I only got the grades I got at University and got into good master's programmes was because I slept with my professor, which is not the case at all. I was scared that people think I was only able to work and achieve where I am now because of my family, which is not the case as well. It sucks that I have to work hard AND then also prove that I worked hard on top of that. You can't win, you know. I honestly still struggle these days. That's why I'm so drawn to Erica being so candid as well. I don't get scared of her advances at all. She's just so.. light. I'm actually jealous of her, haha! :D

I know how smart Erica is. Facility of the English language means nothing in the grand scheme of things. I have lived, worked, and studied with a lot of non-English speakers and their genius and expertise on things did not diminish every time they speak or write English. Some native English speakers are just too limited sometimes. They think English is the end all and be all of all languages, but it's really not. I have also worked with a lot of brilliant deaf and deaf-mute people whose own language, the Sign Language, do not pay much attention to grammar at all. Criticizing or dismissing someone and labeling his/her ideas as invalid because of something like grammar is just plain condescending and lazy to me. Unless your job is a proofreader for an English publishing company or for an English language editor for a university thesis/dissertation. Too many good ideas would have been thrown away in history if people cared about these insignificant things the way most of us do now. My suggestions to these types of people: Maybe meet more people that are different from you? Maybe get out of your comfort zone? Other than that, Erica is really funny and a good sport, so she's cool in my book! And despite what her wall posts show, she's actually pretty tame. I wouldn't trust her with my Facebook and Skype accounts otherwise. Her heart is always on her sleeve, though, haha! :D My dad is a daredevil. He's a diving instructor and he made sure I learned how to swim as early as 3 or 4, I think? He threw me in the pool without any floaters on to test how good I am at paddling -- on my first trip to the pool! >_< But he kind of inspired me to go for the career track I'm in now. I got my first PADI license (scuba diving) and first AIDA certification (free diving) at 15 because of him. I think my dad and my mom are a perfect match. Which makes my template and expectations for relationships way too high. My dad even accused me of being too high maintenance when it comes to relationships! I asked my boyfriend at that time if he agrees and he said, "High maintenance means high quality, right?" Of course, I believed him. :D And nope, I really don't eat sweets. I've never had soda or unnatural/store-bought fruit juice ever. My taste buds can't stand sweet stuff. I used to cry a lot as a kid whenever I was told to eat dessert because I never liked it. Which is good in the long run, I think? I'm extremely low risk for diabetes and other blood and gastro-related issues. The rest of the world can have their real sugar or artificial sugar. I don't really care for them. :P https://media.giphy.com/media/ErZ8hv5eO92JW/giphy.gif

Interesting. as a polytheistic Pagan I believe in gods, but do not believe any are omnipotent, perhaps that last thing you mentioned about omnipotent not being everlasting could ring true. Someone once said using power eventually uses it up. So perhaps you're on to something there.

So you're a Taoist? Do you buy into it more as a religion or philosophy?
