A tentacle monster destroys most of the moon, and threatens to do the same to the earth unless the governments of the world allow him to teach Japanese high school home room. Now, this class full of children have been tasked with assassinating this monster by the end of the year, otherwise the earth will be destroyed.

Yukino Miyazawa is the perfect model student. She's pretty, kind, good at sports, and is always at the top of her class; but she's not all that she seems.

Ever since she entered high school, Kotoko Aihara wanted to be in the same class as Naoki Irie. The only problem is that Irie is the smartest student in school contrast to Kotoko being one of the dumbest.

Yukiteru Amano (or Yuki) is a loner who never really interact with people and prefers writing a diary on his cell phone with his only companion being an imaginary friend named Deus Ex Machina, the God of Time and Space. However, Yuki soon learns that Deus is not a figment of his imagination but real when Deus makes him a participant in a battle royale with eleven others.

Otonokizaka High School stands on the border of three cities: Akihabara—a pop culture mecca that's evolving by the minute; Kanda—a conservative, cultured city where history and tradition reign supreme; and Jinbo—a quiet area reserved for a more mature, sophisticated population. Amidst this culture clash, the school now faces closure due to the enrollment of fewer and fewer students.
