Arcades

I've kind of gotten into a habit of going to Round1 on the weekends. Nearest one to me is half an hour drive. Often times I don't much feel like it but I go anyway just to get out (of my rut) a little bit. I try a bit of everything but I suppose I've put the most time into this wangang midnight game they have, I think it's possibly their most popular game since people are commonly seen waiting for a turn on it. I've got the worst luck with claw catcher games and have never won a thing from them, so those I tend to avoid.

I haven't been to Dave and Busters since Covid. Apparently the Gen Z thing to do is go to Chucky Cheese and drink alcohol and laugh at the animatronics... at least that's how @arc described it to me when he said his friends wanted to go a couple weekends ago. I was down but b/c skee ball. I love the games they have at our anime con and would like to find an arcade that has the table flipping game, the drum game.... I frequent two rather large arcades near me. There is Funworld which is 3 floors of arcade games. Then there is Funspot which is a bit of a world legend and is also 3 floors of madness. As far as games. Galaga, I could play that game for hours on a single credit. Carnevil is one of my favorite light gun shooters.

Always sucked at Galaga. Oh and the claw games are my sworn enemy. I could take pac man or dig-dug a run for their life tho. Centipede had to be my best. Probably because I like to *bug* people! Hah.... okay no that was a terrible pun.

@forgetmenot I have a trick for Galaga. When the enemy bug-ships come down, kill all of them except for two. You want to keep the blue bee looking guys alive that are all the way to the left. One above the other. Avoid them and their missiles for 7 or so minutes. When they stop firing missiles for 3 passes you can kill them. From then on no enemy will fire missiles at you.

I really miss those arcades. I remembering going to the arcades at the malls, movie theaters, or anywhere that has entertainment back in the 1990s. My favorite arcade games were; Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Virtua Fighter, Fatal Fury, Killer Instinct, The House of the Dead, etc. But today, I go to anime cons or comic cons and they have an arcades, I would be playing Dance Dance Revolution, Darkstalkers, Beatmania, StepManiaX, Taiko no Tatsujin and others.

@chise8686 It really sucks that the arcade is something that has sort of fallen out of style in all corners of the country. I think it is just my area that really has it going since video games and my state have a special relationship. I can drive 20 minutes and be at the location video games were invented. Granted I cannot get in because it is a government contract facility making missile guidance systems.
