Politics - Where do You Stand?

napalmamaterasu
With all of the conflict going on both in America and globally politically it can sometimes be difficult to see that we might have more in common politically than we think. People have different reasons for identifying as one political group but it doesn't mean they fall completely in line with that group's known platform. This brings me to a place I was exposed to awhile back in high school that I peek at every now and again because I find it a worthwhile way to view politics in general (not any specific idea or stance) The political compass (linked below) is a place where you can take a short test (similar to some other threads in random chatter - but this one a serious one) and see where you align on a more diverse and telling spectrum than the right / left line which I do believe is a dated and incomplete measure I shall retake and post my results shortly as well. I do hope that others shall feel like taking the quiz and posting their results (either just coordinates or a link the picture / graph of results) https://www.politicalcompass.org/ https://www.politicalcompass.org/test (right to the test because I'm nice) Use the above links to explore and take the quiz (there is a link to the quiz at the top left on the side bar in blue on the left of the screen as well as any number of political things to explore if you're into that Note: the questions are very general and not very many issues are touched on specifically - it is more of a general guide on where in political thought you are rather than individual stances Quick explanation of the two axis's: Your social scale (the Y axis) of Libertarian / Authoritarian is simply how you feel on social issues and the amount of regulation (or deregulation) you feel should be present (being on the libertarian side does *NOT* make you a libertarian or note you as one) Higher up on this line and you feel that people should be more regulated socially - lower on the line the reverse Your Economic scale (the X axis) is how you feel about economics - the further left on the line the more you feel business should be regulated and the further right the reverse Using this we can get a more accurate gauge on how far apart we reaaalllyyy are (or maybe at least maybe find common ideological ground) Since this is a political forum I expect any number of issues to come up and I'm okay with that although I would prefer at least trying to reference from base ideology and going form there or at least using posted results as a starting point

^this pretty much puts you in the quadrant of the "typical liberal" (this time I'm using liberal as a description / observation and not insult of any sort) - just noting the belief system I'm also just a socially conservative (leaning) fuck - for clarity (although my love for the Second Amendment makes it a noticeable lean where I can't particularly identify centrist)
momoichi
i would never take liberal as an insult thank you very much xD
napalmamaterasu
Depending on the particular topic I'll use liberal as an insult (but you knew this already) Over the years I'm pretty consistent on my Economic scale but my social scale varies from the .5 (ish) its at now to as high as a 3 but that's more older me.... but I'm usually around a .5-1.5 (some answers I change depending on my mood taking the quiz)
