'Cool Kids can't/don't watch anime'

xueli
Never happened in any school I went to. I'll grant you that we didn't have cool kids in my high school just because when you have a class size of like 500, it's hard to be popular when you don't even see a good portion of your classmates and I feel like no matter what 'clique' you were in, most people still sort of went group to group. So I knew people on like the football team and baseball team (which were huge cause texas) who liked anime and talked about anime. They may not have joined like anime club, but they watched it. I've never been in an environment where people ever really cared enough to even comment that it's weird or whatever *shrug*

Dont listen to them. imo, they are the ones who are lame, cool kids are into anime, and or comics, super heroes, DC, etc. Just dont mention your fandoms to people unless you feel theyll be accepting of it ahead of time. Saves the trouble of dealing with unnecessary drama / self esteem killers.

My best friends are shameless immigrants and even they watch animes with me sometimes. It's not about anime, it's about taste and some ppl dont like 18 years old looking like 10 1/2. Or even a better case: fanservice

Yeah, that's basically a fallacy. When I was in Highschcool I was in the "delinquent group" (I dunno, We never called ourselves that but we were always in trouble for something), anyway our group of friends had connections with all the other groups around the school (years above us and below us) so we got on with pretty much everyone including both the "cool kids" and the "nerdy kids" (except the hipsters, they never seem to be amused by our shenanigans). Point being, There were Nerdy Kids who used to talk alot about sports and clubbing and Cool Kids who talked about Pokemon and comic books, and they both talked about anime sometimes to praise or to criticise it. I remember it become a hot topic during Attack on titans airing. So yeah, in my school you'd get grief for watching anime as much as you would for watching doctor who (pretty minimal). It only get real bad if you openly admitted to drawing hentai and/or were a total weeaboo about it. Which there were some.

Heck while I was in college I used to hang out with some of my friends who were football players/frat guys and we'd watch Pokemon, Death Note, and other anime on Netflix. Even in High School nobody cared if you watched anime as long as you weren't weird about it.

I'm from a small state, so maybe it's the simple fact that if one person Thinks something, others feel the need to do the same, and then everyone has This preconceived idea of something, when it actually isn't. @everyone.

I wouldn't say I was popular but I did have a lot of friends that were popular and 'cool' i guess and they all loved anime (I introduced them to the amazing world). I think it depends on where you are in the world I guess. It's pretty well accepted in London as far as I can see.

Respectable people don't watch shows with 11 year olds dressed like strippers.
