Blu-Rays for Old Shows

shawnji
So I found out just yesterday that Turn A Gundam is getting a Blu-Ray release in the US finally! I'm pretty stoked about it, but there are some other sets that I'm looking forward to in the near future too; namely, Escaflowne and Martian Successor Nadesico. I'd still like to see new HD transfers for a lot of other shows like Trigun and Kare Kano, but I don't know how likely it is. Anyone else got some old favorites they'd like to see in shiny 1080p?

Witch Hunter Robin. Not sure if it exists already, but a quick search didn't turn anything up.

Yep, there's no box for that out in Japan yet. I really enjoyed that show too for what it was. Unfortunately, it wasn't terribly popular in Japan, so I doubt they're in a big rush to remaster it.

Also Outlaw Star, been waiting for that for a long time too. Even the regular box sets that I can find are still 40-50 dollars.

You know most of those are just gonna be upscales right?

The ones I listed aren't just upscales. They were cleaned up from the original Japanese masters and fully remastered. These are ports of Blu-Ray sets that were released in Japan. Some, like Escaflowne, even include new footage.

Outlaw Star actually got a Japanese Blu-Ray release in 2014, so there's a good chance it'll come over eventually. They used the original 35mm prints for that one too.

I stand corrected. Nice to know they're doing it right.
