I think its fair if women want to fight on the ground along side there male counter parts if they can be police offciers they should be allowed to fight as a grunt like above most countires already do it anyway so why shouldnt we

Well, it is sexist to say one gender has to respond, and another is exempt... As for my personal thoughts on the subject, some women really are as fit to be soldiers as their male counterparts, just as some men just aren't cut to be soldiers. I would prefer a system that knew who to look for, but even that defies the definition of fairness and equality.

Yup. That simultaneously plays into biology, and an example of a social issue where men in society at large are perceived to be more expendable. Which is of course another form of sexism that needs more attention called to it, but since I tend to see it more from the evolutionary psychology perspective, I don't really jump at it with civil rights banners blazing. It just goes to show how much centuries of patriarchy has damaged both genders.

Yeah, but thats one of the beautiful things about humanity. There are no alphas and omegas like a lot of people try to simplify their social dynamics as. Humans evolved to be attracted to lots of different traits. The fact that women find intellect, compassion, (and even more strangely) humor, as sexy traits just goes to show that the guy who invented the wheel, the guy who brought up moral, and the guy who stayed with his mate through out pregnancy, and stuck around long enough to help raise the kids as well each effectively had valuable traits to offer, next to what we think of when we perceive warlike alphas. Actually though, sexually, men aren't evolved to seek harems, OR monogamy. If you look at... Er, maybe read about masculine reproductive organs in males compared to other primates, those who have social dynamics with one alpha getting most of the mates have much differently designed organs. Human males are evolved for sperm competition. So take look at bonobos instead of chimps, which is designed more for polygamy. Ironically a trait found in matriarchal primate societies. Humans really are an interesting species in that regard. With two evolutionary pathologies competing against one another, it really does become something that society shouldn't play a hand in dictating. It becomes more a choice of male and female sexual selection as to whether they wish to remain monogamous, or polygamous. If anything, modern society is moving back to the hunter/gatherer society we started off with, which means both genders have assertive leverage over one another. M: "Say, I'm so sorry. I failed the hunt today, and couldn't bring in the prestiege or food for the kids. Can I still have some berries?" F: "Yeah? Well I fought off a tiger today while you guys were gone. Think its time to look for a more effective mate."

The last time the draft was enacted was in 1973 when there were a shortage of service members and then was abolished. The whole point of the selective service is more for homeland security in a time of crisis for home bound wars or an reenactment of WWII as well as for anyone that potentially wants to join the service as there different classes that fall under eligibility for the act. It's more for a fall back in case shit hits the fan home-bound.

As a feminist, or femi-nazi as some people on here like to say all the time *eyes roll*, while I support women being required to register for selective service, I'm against selective service being required for all genders. I just don't think it's ethical to coerce people into where they can lose their lives over something that they might not necessarily agree with, etc.
