Creepers At Cons: The Living NegativeStereotypes of Otaku

chocopyro
I actually met a lot of people who are surprisingly highly functional in the social spectrum at colossalcon this weekend. There wasn't a lot of that creeper weeb stuff, at least not from what I saw. Now when I was working security at Ohayocon, that was another case entirely. @__@ I kept getting reports of the same guy who walked up and caressed female cosplayers in a creepy manner, and we could never find him. People, when you see this happen, please get a picture. It would help us SO MUCH MORE than vague descriptions like "He looka like a man." Thats not a joke by the way, and I'm not just saying that to make a convention look good or bad. We actually do take that seriously. And I'm sorry to hear that, Differentdrum. That's never happened at any con I worked at at least.

Yeah you get people all over the spectrum. That guy must have been some kind of perverted ninja if no one could find him lol

Yeah. I also identify as ninja, but we didn't really know what we were supposed to be looking for. Actually though, we had more trouble with the people who weren't congoers than the con-attendees. Since the Hyatte is in a public space, a lot of people tend to meander in who know nothing about anime. Panhandlers, people who heard from someone that a rave was going to happen, lost drunks. Sometimes even other conventions. There was a cheer leading convention one year. O---O;

That sounds pretty interesting. Some people just like to party so I can see that happening. I couldn't imagine working security at a con for reasons like that.
