Infatuation VS Love

chocopyro
I've come to understand love as a connection or a bond on a high level. I don't believe true love can be distinguished between friendship, romance, family, pets, passions, or certain places that are close to your heart. Obviously our brains do categorize our bonds. This is an evolutionary trait after all, since love can easily be mistaken by the brain as attraction and vice versa (Especially at a younger age). Clearly things like inbreeding, beastiality, and such are not all that beneficial for the passage of genes down the line. This really does make the concept of love hard to understand from a scientific point of view, and trust me, I'm trying very hard not to get into spirituality here. Clearly, we know why two mates bond. We know why they are evolved to like their offspring, assuming they aren't psychopaths/sociopaths. We know why friends bond, and why fraternity is important for the self esteem of men to belong to. But other than some pshycological assumptions, we don't fully understand why humans are evolved to love the creation of their works. Or why those favorite toys are just so hard to get rid of. In Jewish Kabbala, there are two commandments that don't quite fit with the others. Love your neighbors, and love god. The rest are simply instructions. Don't do this, don't do that. Yeah, you get the point. The Kabbalistic traditions have come to understand that there really is no way to actively love something on command, so they have come to intemperate love as action or service rather than feeling. I kinda see it the same way. Attraction waxes, wains, fades, multiplies, and conflicts. And one can still find themselves caring for someone whom they are no longer attracted to... Wait, here I was saying I wasn't going to get into spirituality. Damn it! XD

Infatuation: I love everything about you and you are so pretty! Lets mingle like a bag of pringles. Love: We've had our ups and downs, but we both agree on this and i like this about you, also we get along. Marry me. Personally i believe that Infatuation often comes first and then love in terms of Romantic relationships. I Define love as unrelenting honesty and Loyalty towards that person, also a certain degree of admiration and Trust/understanding for what they do and what they're capable of. Love at first sight has always seemed like a rather fake thing.
