Male Homemaker

mariahaise
My life is a perfect example of how both parents can really be the homemaker. Don't really care who does but my dad was obviously 100 times better than my biological mom. Is just a matter of caring in the correct time. Once I marry someone and get a kid I wouldn't be the homemaker tho or I wouldn't do it alone because I suck at it and I treat children way too harsh. So I'd probably wait until I get my first born kid. I'd be this type of mom: http://38.media.tumblr.com/c1cca0689a905e17203de7ab4621057f/tumblr_n6g6b3sCIM1rosyhxo1_500.gif http://45.media.tumblr.com/63df9ff0e03d9fc4748e28297c43ea94/tumblr_n98yrcsPtv1rzfh8io2_250.gif http://45.media.tumblr.com/e3f8e6b7a9e2621a20b6ef56c07bd7c3/tumblr_n98yrcsPtv1rzfh8io7_250.gif

Psh. I'd totally be down to be a homemaker while working on my projects on the side. I cook and clean for myself anyway. I'm not a big fan of kids but most tend to get attached to me kind of easily. Having three older sisters has made me an uncle many times over, I have to actively avoid my nephews and nieces to get a moment or two to myself when they're around. So there's nothing odd about a male homemaker. At least to me.

I'm both homemaker and bread maker. I have no plans on becoming a full time homemaker, I would get cabin fever to easily. I believe any gender could be either homemaker/bread winner/both, it's not a gender based roll in my opinion. I personally enjoy cleaning, it's quite relaxing. I also can't stand huge messes.

My life goals and plans have never involved me being a "homemaker". I have always been career focused. I'm not good with kids. I don't plan to have kids. I hate cleaning. If I had the money I would have hire a cleaning service. Actually if I could spare $200 a month I know a couple of people who do it professionally that would spend 3 hours a week cleaning my place, but it's a luxury I can't afford right now. But this has been a fun read. ^_^

@Chocopyro, the only reason women didn't work in the past was because they weren't allowed to. It has nothing to do with masculinity. If a man decides to be the home maker that doesn't make him more "feminine" either.

Meh...gender roles are yet another pile of garbage humanity has made up. We are sentient beings that are able to make choices on our own and even go against laws of nature if we wanted to, yet we use that very quality to imprison and restrict ourselves with all kinds of stupid rules and regulations. Don't get me wrong law and order is needed, but stuff like women receiving less money in some countries despite doing the exact same job as their male colleagues just makes me want to faceplant into a bowl of ice cream.... It is entirely up to one's preference whether they want to settle down and take care of the house and family, or they'd like to chase their dreams instead. When a couple decides to marry they should take that into consideration, sadly nobody cares to do that. Hence the today's divorce ratio, and all the kids growing up with only 1 parent.....ughhh.
