What Does Waifu Mean To You?

Someone who makes me breakfast every morning.......

Waifuism to me means an innocent 4chan joke that seems to have been taken too seriously, and for better or worse, evolved into a culture and life choice. I have very mixed feelings about it, but I don't judge. As I always say, the mind is the last refuge of sanctuary from the rest of society's long list of sins and abnormalities which you are expected to conform to. As long as thoughts that are damaging to others don't come through to manifestation, I don't even really care if they loose grounding in reality.

Pretty much this is how to sum it up: If it's your waifu...you're wrong.

In a nutshell a "waifu" is just a mental construct to which a person has strong feelings of fondness. Its roots are any "character"... an (often) idealized personality given meaningful existence with aid from some form of aesthetically pleasing depiction that is meant to be representative of the entity, and interactions with other characters in order to cement said personality. A character and the art and interactions attached cannot be a waifu in any objective sense, as all of this mental construct is personal interpretation-based. In a sense, I guess no two waifus with the same root character are necessarily the same. This actually isn't necessarily different from interpretations and mental constructs of real individuals; the distinction is the lack of physical presence. Just like in a database, you're creating something to model the real world (like dogejackdaniels represents this dude you see in the picture on the left). My interactions on this forum develop your image of me. The difference is that I exist somewhere. Or so you hope. Whether the person cares that this construct objectively nonexistent or not (if you wanna open up a can of worms, let's talk about societal significance)... that's a totally different subject altogether. I mean Dolce in Rune Factory 4 is quite totally my "waifu"... when I'm playing that game (well I mean hell, I married her in it, and she's pregnant lol). I happen to realize that she just exists for my main character in that game, even though I am role playing said character (in a sense). I recognize that she's some abstract, impossible ideal. Bit abstract, but my thoughts.

Waifu and Husbando are just terms I would use jokingly.. and anybody who doesn't.. I'd doubt their values and how much they are actually connected to the real world. Real World > Imagined World .. although it might suck sometimes.

I'd personally use the term just to describe a female character I was a fan of. I could see using it in a mildly amusing context to call any potential gf I might have my waifu, but it wouldn't be something I'd use constantly.
