Game Development/Story Devs

shadowdemonx9
So with a lot of people being here with all different sorts of minds and imaginations I was just wondering. How many of you have a background of Game Development? As far as have been in the field, would like to give it a try or just interested in trying it out? Was thinking about building another game and just throwing this out there if anyone wants to help out on it whether it be modelling, storyline, Scripting or any of the necessary components for Game Developing.

I've developed a game. My talking to ladies game. ayyyyy

I feel sorry for you. Sounds like it didn't make it to far if I haven't heard of it.

"throwing this out there if anyone wants to help out on it" wouldn't it be best to share what genre the game will be with the class, I don't think anyone would just jump into something with out knowing if it is up their alley or not

Well the Genre of the game is undecided because of the scope of gameplay I'm going for, which is very broad in a sense. What I was trying to get is input from people who may just want to dabble in it, or had some interest but didn't know how to go about starting their expedition. Tried to make it so that people could approach it with ease other than sounding all technical with it, which in turn would definitely keep people away thinking it's over their heads. (For those who don't or may not know about the field).

I did no such thing D=
perrythewutt
You most certainly did xD And personally if it was me I would most likely want to know what I would be getting into kinda like when your dating someone so you know it could be something you want to dabble with, but I am not saying there's anything wrong with what you said, if people have the ideas than they wouldn't sweat the technicalities of it and dive into it :P

Well Game Developing deals with a lot of pre-planning beforehand. But for starters that would all be decided by talking it out with one-another and seeing which directions everyone wants to go in and how everyone's ideas can be adapted into one flourishing idea that can further blossom into something magnificent. Their are a lot of engines to choose from and then move forward from. The current engine that I'm Game-Devving on is Unreal 4 (which is really great in all honesty). Their are others like the Crysis Engine and Unity, but those are two of the main ones. Then it splits off into what you want to do ( First Person Shooter, Strategy Game, Side-Scroller, Role-Playing, Turn-Based, etc etc). Then from there you would need to break off into the groups for each section from the genre that you chose (if you decide to keep it genre specific, which in my case it's a bit more complicated). Then it's all about implementation and specifications of what needs to be developed and how to go about it. That's just touching base and still leaving out the specifics of what I want and giving a more broad idea of what needs to be put into game development (at least getting a base for what you want). And I did not D=...Or rather I didn't mean to. I just chose the best answer based on how I hear about games (normally based around hype or other people).

Can't argue with any of that, I am sure there are tons of engines, the only ones I have heard of and downloaded to try learning are the mainstream ones like unity and UR (which I have just installed a day ago), I can understand how complicated keeping something genre based is, mainly because all of the potential ideas that it can entail (or maybe its just me) but I am all ideas and no action xD Maybe you can just wreck people with out realizing, just imagine how many people you could have done this to :o
