Why do people hate gays?

People fear what they do not understand, and understanding will differ, so I would say it is an issue of not having an open mind. I believe your actions define who you are to the core, and since you know better than any other who you are, be able to live with yourself. I have a favorite quote I will share: "Everyone, has to fight with time, to find their place in this life before their inevitable death. It is a small measure of peace, that we all seek, and few of us ever find." Such petty hate is best left to those I call an empty can, because they rattle the loudest.

Because some people think that their personal truth and their way of life as well as their worldview is the only correct one. They want to force their views, lifestyle or ideology on everyone else and are too ignorant to look over the borders of the own horizon. For them the only right thing is what their own moral code tells is right. And everything else is evil, and the unknown to fear for them. But morals are made by people and they vary from place to place and even from person to person. I personally don’t understand why people keep making a fuss about this subject anyway. I don’t even get why people do bother about sexual preferences and the sexuality of others. In fact sexuality and even love is a mixture of Biology/Biochemistry/Neuroscience and Psychology. So where is the big deal about it ? It doesn’t matter if someone is homosexual or heterosexual. I don’t care about what others do in their bedrooms and to be honest, I am a bit tired of the whole spectacle people make around the subject. It seems to be everywhere these days. Why do we have to even talk about if they get the same rights or not in the 21st century. Seriously, they are humans as every other, for me it doesn’t make a difference. And in my opinion this implicates, that in any country that acknowledges the human rights and preaches equality, they have to have the same rights.

Ignorance, but there are legitimate reasons; I'm pretty it's usually traditionalism. I say "legitimate" because people have the right to be ignorant bastards or not. I can hate my neighbor for no reason; if you hate gays that's alright so long as you don't harm them physically. Personally, I like gays; some of them are cute, but I respect other people not wanting to be in the park with their children and seeing two grown men kissing each other passionately. I wouldn't want my children seeing that; I wouldn't care if they turned out gay, but still, to me it's just unpleasant. Hell, I wouldn't want to see a straight couple doing that! So it's easy to understand how outrageous it may seem to people who are conservatives.

As illogical as this is, here, I know some people who when thinking of homosexuality, their mind goes straight to pedophilia. one tried explaining to me the reason why she was against gay rights to marriage was the next thing will be legal pedophilia. She literally feared for the safety of her child. I told her to stop watching FOX.

Seems like ignorance and a lack of tolerance as a whole. Even when there's no "gay context", some guys are just like "don't touch me I'm not gay". I understand that people may not want to be touched and it's their right and I respect that but it's kind of an odd response...

Nothing wrong with gay people

^Rinar that's what I like to refer to as a smoking gun. That is not to say the person who says that is gay, but you know they have thought about it, reflected on it, and possibly even fantasizes about it. There was an experiment done some years ago where a survey of people were exposed to gay porn and the results of the male heterosexuals was pretty surprising in that they were the ones most stimulated by it. A lot of things that arouse people are often taboo. Hence the reason why there are so many fetishes. Perhaps for many hetero males gay sex is so taboo it goes full circle and actually arouses some. The purpose of the knee jerk reactions "don't touch me" could be a reflection of that person's guilt and shame for knowing to an extent it has aroused them.
