Online Dating Advice

Now I have messaged girls on Facebook, proceeded to flirt then we eventually met up since no girl was ever more than a 20 minute drive then the rest was history. How does online log distant relationships work? It's a lot easier for me to read body language etc then read text on a screen. what I'm probably trying to get at is how do you get into a relationship without actually ever meeting up in person? Any tips would be appreciated or insight.

Hm, this is a hard one to explain. I clicked with my partner through this site exchanging wall messages to start with, then I gave him my number on impulse and we started texting. I didn't even know what he looked like, but we really clicked and shared interests. The change from forum messages to texting was really smooth, and we texted more often until finally Skyping, then we met in person after about three months of dating. I would recommend using Skype so that you can video call each other, and after three to six months it would probably be the right time to meet up in person to see if you click physically. I think long distance relationships are fine, as long as you plan to shorten the distance at some point.

But how did you guys start dating? How was it brought up, was it weird at first? Did it bother you that you didn't know what he looked liked? You don't have to answer these questions if you don't want to but a little insight would help.

Well, we started dating after a few weeks just talking. We sort of found we were coming on more and more just to check our walls for messages, and we were flirting quite a lot...We actually started dating after a bit of a fall out. He said he didn't want to date, we stopped talking, he left the site and I texted him IRL asking him to come back. A few days later he said he was ready to give it a go. Personally, I didn't think our chemistry was weird at all. There were some things we both had to think about; my partner is transgender, but at the beginning I didn't know which way and I'm straight. Turns out he's MtF but that's not an issue. The age gap was another one, he's 19, I'm 27 but after a lady at work pointed out the 20 year gap between her brother and sister in law it didn't seem so important anymore, and when we're together we really don't feel that age difference at all. I did worry a little to begin with what he'd look like, but I got so attached to his personality and liked talking to him so much I'm not sure how much of a difference it would have made in the end. Sometimes a person's personality can make you overlook any physical flaws you perceive, but I was very fortunate that I adored him as much in person as online. (I know I said my partner is MtF so I should use she/her, but since he was male on here I've always used the male pronouns ^ ^;)
