Characters You Most Relate To

There's already a topic for the Hottest Character you've ever seen, but I'm curious, what anime characters can you most relate or feel like you have a connection to? Characters that just resonate with you, that you're not necessarily attracted to, but whenever you see them, you think to yourself "That's so me!" or "I'm a lot like that character!" Currently, I'm watching Lucky Star and after the first few episodes I immediately thought to myself that I'm a lot like a male version of Konata. No joke. I'm absolutely obsessed with anime and gaming, and would forgo schoolwork and sometimes my work-work in favor of watching anime or gaming. That's changed a little now that I run a YouTube channel so a lot of my fun has now become my work, but fo real tho, I'm like a lazy otaku a lot of the time. And then there's the slightly more serious side. Those of you who're familiar with the anime Black Lagoon will know of the Triad Leader, Mr. Chang. He's arguably the most hilariously bad*ss secondary character in the series, and you only get to see him really fight twice. But what really got me is is weapons of choice: a pair of Longslide 1911's. Being a huge firearms fanatic, and a HUGE fan of the 1911 handgun, Mr. Chang immediately struck a chord with me, so much so that I've wanted to cosplay as him for years. He also has a dry sense of humor, but don't let that fool you. He'll quickly put several .45's in you if you come after him, and all while wearing a suit, tie, trenchcoat, and scarf. Oh, and if you catch him off guard, he'll hit you with a flurry of .22's from a pair of full-custom Beretta 76's. But then, suddenly, Highschool of the Dead shows up out of nowhere and suddenly I found my now all-time favorite character: Kohta Hirano. The gunfighter of the group, he lacks any real hand-to-hand combat abilities (like me), is short and chubby (like me), was bullied for it (like me), is very inexperienced with women (like me), and most of all, is a die-hard-down-to-the-bone-and-bleeds-gun-oil firearms fanatic (almost EXACTLY like me), and not only that, is also experienced with handling said firearms (like me). Notice a pattern? Literally me and Kohta are almost exactly the same person, the only difference is that he has hair. Granted, our tastes in firearms are slightly different (by the end of the anime, he uses an Armalight AR-10 modified like a Knight's Armament SR-25, whereas I HATE all AR-style rifles), but we do match in our preference of marksmanship over spray-n-pray. The first time I watched HOTD, immediately after I saw Kohta, it was instantly "That was exactly who I was in high school." The second time I watched HOTD it was "Seriously, that's me!" The third time I watched through the series, it became "I gotta meet the creators of the series! We must be connected somehow." Of course, I think that, but it's obviously not true. So, what's yours?

That's a tough one. I find that I rarely relate to most characters. Vash from Trigun is in the ballpark. He's a real joker but can be dead serious when he needs to be. However some portions of his ideology didn't resonate with me, and he's definitely more extroverted. Gray from Fairy Tail also has a little bit of similarity to me. He can be fiercely competitive (with Natsu) over stupid things, and resonates a bit with my serious side. His stripping habit is somewhat similar to the way I roam around in boxers at home. However he's more temperamental than I am, and doesn't joke around as much. Gintoki from Gintama may be the closest. Maybe that's why he's my favorite character. Definitely similar in the sarcasm department, and he's usually extremely laid back. He also gets intensely serious when things go down. And he's got that sweet tooth (strawberry milk ftw). A lot of his traits reflect my self image. I suppose what keeps me from resonating entirely with that character is that he's more expressive at times. Even going over my entire list of anime, I'm not really seeing any others that jump out at me.

I'm a lot like Hideki from Chobits. I'm an all around friendly person, I enjoy watching the pornz on te computers, and I'd do just about anything for the one I love. When it comes to romance he's also as dense as a cinder block, which I can relate to. It's not a perfect fit, though. I have a malicious side he doesn't have.

I think Tiramisu from Bakuretsu Hunters. She is sweet, cute and caring on the outside of her little red riding hood hood and big granny glasses, but when she takes that off she is very outgoing and wild... also a bit kinky.

Kinda like Shinji Ikari from Neon Genesis Evangelion. Not his "wussy side" people seem to hate, but I can relate to the hedgehog dilemma. When they talked about it, it was the closest anyone has been to understanding me, including myself. (P.s. I only watched the original anime yet, if it changes the series's symbolism in any way.)
